You Have GOT to Read this Book!

I have a friend Amy who has, with other Mom bloggers, just published her first book.  This book is AMAZING!  Oh so funny and I can relate to many of the stories, even though my son is going to be 23 years old this month. 

My morning routine consists of catching up on all my favorite blogs and hers ...My Real Life is one of them.  Last week she met with a few of the other authors of the book for a lunch meeting and they all signed a copy of one of the books.  THEN she had a giveaway and I won!  Yes, I have been on one heck of a lucky streak but now I will leave the giveaways to everyone else ..... I can't be too greedy. 

When I first read that she published a book, I immediately had to buy it.  I just love how she recounts her days raising four children, teaching full time and trying to keep a household while trying to maintain a speck of sanity on her blog so I knew the book had to be good.  It is.  You will NOT be disappointed.  Now that I have received my SIGNED copy (I am oh so excited to have an actual SIGNED copy and I am doing a happy dance), I will send the other copy I previously bought to my Mom.  I know she will love it as much as I do.

Did I tell you this book is on the Best Sellers List?!  Yep, that is how good it is.  If you are a Mom and crave some togetherness with other women in your shoes, pick up a copy.  You will cry, laugh and feel like maybe you are just a 'normal' Mom.  To can purchase a copy here from Amazon.

Another Great Day at the Mailbox!

Another great day at the mailbox!  I have been on a roll lately.  Which doesn't happen often so I don't mind one bit.   Creative, fun-loving Leslie over at Spoonful of Everything had a giveaway a couple of weeks ago and I won!  I wasn't the first winner picked but she decided to pick two names and mine was the second name!

 

 

Unfortunately the handmade planter's pot was broken in transit.  I guess one of the mailmen were a little over rambunctious when moving that package!  Seeing how it was decorated though, I will definitely be making one myself...it is so cute!

 

 

There was also a lovely crocheted doily, an adorable skeleton key, a package of vinca seeds ( I LOVE vincas!)

 

 

and the most adorable package of decorate clothespins! 

 

 

 

There were all placed inside the cutest little spring take out box.

Looky What Was in My Mailbox!

I am so excited!  Looky at what was in my mailbox this morning.  Everyday I visit one of my favorite bloggers, Cath, over at Bit's and Bobs  Cath lives in Australia and she is currently having a 12 point giveaway. 

Each time you comment on her blog, your name is entered into her giveaway.  She draws once a month, hence the name 12 point giveaway!

Well I won the February giveaway!!! I comment anyway as I have been following Cath for years now but what a surprise when I saw my name was posted as last months winner. 

It was such a pleasure to see the envelope in the mailbox especially since we still have quite a bit of snow on the ground.

Welcome March!  I have been waiting impatiently for you to arrive.  Now that you are here, I am excited for seedlings, longer days, more sunshine, St. Patrick's Day and the promise of Easter.

 

Since you arrived like a lamb, I will have to see that at the end of the month, if you leave us as a lion?  As long as it isn't a snowy lion!

Thread Catcher and a Giveaway!

You all are familiar with obsession with Pinterest.  I recently have decided to start working through some of the projects I have been pinning before I have enough to last me into my next life!  

 

Having an itch to sew something, I collected some pretty fabric the other day and began cutting.  I fell in love with this and thought it would be a cute and quick project that I could finish before having to start dinner. 

 

In the evenings, I crochet, knit, mend clothes, sew and now I have started to embroider and well ..... little tiny pieces of thread and yarn seem to end up everywhere!  I thought a thread catcher would be a great addition to my side table.  It would hopefully hold all those stray threads and yarn that usually stick to the couch, my sweater, my slacks, the cats ..... you get the idea.

 

 

 

This was a fun and fast pattern!  The part that took the longest was choosing which buttons I wanted to use.  It was so fast in fact, that I made one for you!!

I am so lucky.  There is a lovely blog I follow called The Brambleberry Cottage.  Mrs. R. supplies her readers with lovely pictures, tutorials and simple pleasures. 

 

A while back, she had a giveaway ..... I have since learned that she has a monthly giveaway!!!!  This giveaway included some note paper, writing paper and a lovely homemade cottage journal ..... all of which I use daily and LOVE.

 

 

Entering the giveaway, I really wasn't expecting to win as I don't win much but it was worth a try, right?  To my surprise, my name was drawn!  Yippee!!!

 

Isn't this adorable?  She made this cottage journal herself!

I sent off my snail mail address to Mrs. R. and she quickly sent it on it's way and I received the package on the weekend!  Oh my.  What a treat to open the package.  It was just like Christmas.

I am quite technology inept so in order to choose a winner, I did it the old fashioned way! I wrote all the names down on their own piece of paper.....

Giveaway!

Another busy day dehydrating, housecleaning and baking. I have been dehydrating onions, onions and more onions. I use alot of onion flakes in my cooking and since we have about 200 onions from the garden, not to mention those given to us by our neighbor Dave, I decided it was the best thing to start with in my new machine.

Laundry, baking and grilling steaks for dinner took up the rest of my day along with a four-wheeler ride with Bob around the property. We like to do a weekly patrol around the fields to make sure everything is still as it should be. The deer have really been moving in lately so it should turn out to be a great hunting season.

With cooler temperatures now here and decreasing daylight, it got me thinking of the things I enjoy once winter rears it's ugly head. One of my favorites is making some time for myself and taking long, hot, soaking bubble baths which is how I came up with my giveaway.

We all need to take care of and pamper ourselves once in a while. So I am giving away a homemade jar of my bath salts. They are wonderful and the smell will remind you of Christmas. I am also including two 100% cotton homemade washcloths in a wonderful ecru color (the yarn is in the picture) that will be made just for the winner. If the winner would like a stripe down the center in a different color to match their bathroom decor they just have to let me know and I will make them that way. Yes, the washcloths will not be made until the winner is announced and has notified me with their decision. I also will include a jar of Raspberry Tart Body Butter to slather on once the soaking is complete.

Gardening and Giveaway

Today was spend bringing in the garden...very long and tiring day but we are expecting rain and quite a bit cooler temperatures over the next few days so it was time.






The weariness of the busy day spent in the sun is beginning to settle in my body but I wanted to tell you about my first giveaway! I will post a picture tomorrow of the items. I want to thank all of you who read my blog so regularly and post the lovely comments, I really appreciate them.
