Happy Birthday to my Son

TO MY SON LUCAS who is celebrating his 23rd birthday today.....

What if today,
you could see yourself
the way that I see you?

I wish I could
somehow take you back
and show you for a moment,
the beautiful baby boy
who won my heart forever
the first time I held him
in my arms.

of the mischievous toddler
who never stopped
for more than a minute -
so full of life and curiosity
about the world
around him.

What if I could
somehow take you back
to that very first day of school,
or show you
the kind and generous man
I now see standing before me?

what if you could see yourself
the way I see you?

then you would know
how much I have loved
watching you become
the special kind of man
I always knew you would be.

I love you honey with all my heart and I hope you have a FABULOUS day!

Sending many hugs and kisses.
Mom

from a dear friend

I will be celebrating a birthday soon.  I don't like birthdays.  Never have.  I do not enjoy being the center of attention that having a birthday brings.

I do however have wonderful friends and family who take the time to wish me the best, send and give gifts or spend some time visiting with me.  I appreciate it all ..... every little bit.

I have a dear friend whom I never met in person.  We met on a frugal website forum and there the friendship began.  We swap stories, dreams and sorrows.  I have 'watched' her oldest grandson grow through the years and 'witnessed' another one being born.  Now she has a third grandchild on the way and I am so excited for her!

She enjoys so many of the same things I do ..... crafting, gardening and living simply.  Although for now our friendship consists of emails, messages and phone calls.  One day I am sure, we will meet in person and it will be as if we had never met.  We call each other our 'kindred sister'.

Deannie was ever so thoughtful and sent me a lovely birthday present.  Amazingly Deannie does not know what outfits I like to wear or my style BUT she could not have picked a better present.  Actually she had the present MADE especially for me by one of her co-workers.

Isn't it gorgeous?! I just LOVE it!!!  When I chose something to wear for work, I like to incorporate scarves into my outfit.  I can wear the same outfit a whole week (I don't, but I could! LOL) and it wouldn't look the same just by changing the scarf, accessories and footwear.  So this present was a PERFECT thoughtful gift!

Thanks Deannie and please give those grandbabies Liam and Rio a huge hug and kiss for me!!  Talk to you soon my friend.

Have a wonderful day and remember to give your loved ones a hug!

Tuesday's Tip and Happy Birthday to my Sister-in-Law!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHELLY!

I hope you have a great day.  Love ya!

Now onto today's tip!

Hauling groceries.  That is the topic of the day.  How many of you use cloth bags?  How many of you still have not gotten into the habit of using cloth bags and still rely on the plastic ones from the store?  I have noticed on my travels that some areas are strictly cloth-bag-user-people.  They carry them the same as they do their wallets and identification...it has become second nature to them.  Others continue to use the plastic bags that the stores provide...even if they have to pay that nickel or dime.  I am on the fence .... some days I use cloth bags, other days I do not.  The reason I don't is because my stash of plastic bags has apparently dwindled and I need to restock on them as well.  The store plastic bags come in handy for many things around the house and since our local supermarkets have not jumped on the 'charge by the bag' bandwagon, it is still cost effective for us to use them once in a while.

Whatever you prefer, there is always the problem of loading and unloading the bags once you reach home after a large grocery shopping day.  I normally shop once a week.  My weekly shopping trip consists of fresh produce, dairy and items to restock the pantry or are on sale for the week.  Since plastic bags do not hold as much as cloth do, some weeks I can have as many as 15 to 20 plastic bags.....that is a lot of unloading so I came up with a solution.

Clothes baskets.

Leave the baskets in the trunk, load them up with bags of groceries and carry the whole thing into the house.  Soooo much easier and less trips!  Once you have hauled the basket in the house and removed all the groceries, then throw the cloth bags back in the basket (if you use cloth bags) and put the basket back in the trunk.

You will always have them with you and they won't be forgotten next time you are out shopping.  This makes my life simpler and oh so much easier.

Remember to give your loved ones a hug!

Missing in Action/Happy Birthday Bro!

Wow, lots to mention today!  First, my brother's birthday.

Wishing you a Happy 44th Birthday Len!

We hope you have a great day!  .

I will be missing in action for a few days but I do have my posts scheduled to publish.  My Mom and I are taking a road trip to Thunder Bay (Ontario, Canada) in the morning to help Lucas move from the dorm on campus to his first apartment in the big city.  He has been actively looking for summer employment.  Please keep your fingers crossed for him!  His girlfriend Sarah and him will share an apartment for the summer and into the next school year.  It will be a first for the both of them .... including living with a significant other!

Mom and I will be taking lots of pictures to show you how it all went. Let the adventure begin!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS!

Twenty-two years ago I celebrated the best day of my life.  After a gruelling 28 hours, I was blessed with my son Lucas James weighing in at 9 pounds 12 ounces.

Unfortunately I do not own a scanner and cannot show you what a beautiful baby boy he was ... but here he is now with his girlfriend Sarah.  Sorry, the picture isn't very clear ... I had lost the picture off my camera and had to use the one from Facebook.  LOL

and here is a picture of the two of us together this past Christmas  .... he grew into one tall, young man .. 6 feet 7 inches.  I miss him so much while he is away at school.

Love you honey.  I cannot wait to see you in a week and a half!  I hope you have the best birthday ever!

HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY

HONEY!

I

LOVE

YOU!

A Surprise

Pin It In my mailbox today, there was a lovely surprise!

I received a package from a dear friend of mine Darlene for my birthday. She is always surprising me with treats that are not only unexpected but that I love.

Isn't the birthday card adorable?! So sweet.

Inside was some lovely vintage material and some new cleaning cloths that I have never tried before.

The vintage material brought tears to my eyes as it reminds me of a tablecloth that my Grandma use to have.

The colors are exactly the same as hers and I wouldn't be surprised if the pattern is the same too!

I will be making myself a tablecloth with this material and everytime I use it, I will not only be remembering my dear friend Darlene but also of my Grandma. I really wish my Grandma was still around so I could visit with her. I miss her very much.

Thank you Darlene from the bottom of my heart. You really made my birthday special! Now off to try those cleaning cloths she sent!

Have a great day everyone and remember to give your loved ones a hug! =)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!!!

Today is my Mom's 65th birthday. She retires on New Year's Day and I am so excited for her.

Now she can putter around in her garden all that she wants, enjoy her time with her two kitties; Blossom and Sir Humphrey and get plenty of rest.

For you Mom.....

Dear Mom,

I said a prayer for you

to thank the Lord above

For blessing me with a lifetime

of your tenderhearted love.

I thanked God for the caring,

you've shown me through the years,

For the closeness we have enjoyed

in time of laughter and of tears.

And so, I thank you from the heart

for all you've done for me

And I bless the Lord for giving me

the best Mother there could be.

We love you with all our hearts and miss you terribly!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
