Some of us use coffee grinders. Sometimes not only to grind coffee! After a while the blades in the coffee grinders can get dull and can be difficult to sharpen. Instead of giving up and selling it at a yard sale, donating it to Goodwill or *gasp* tossing it out .... give this a try.
RICE
Sharpen the blades by running a cup of rice through it! Your blades will be sharp, the grinder saved from the landfill and fresh coffee will be brewed in no time.
Now what to do with the ground up rice?...hmmmm. Remember to give your loved ones a hug!
Throw the rice in a big pot of soup?
ReplyDeleteFunny that was one thing I never thought of! Oh sometimes I draw blanks. Thanks Sharon!
DeleteRice pudding? Know anyone with a baby who might need rice mash?
ReplyDelete(a brief google search for "ground rice recipes" tells me that the Brits have a whole host of uses for ground rice...)
Rice pudding sounds good too! Thanks Cluttermama and thanks for stopping by.
DeleteGreat tip Debbie! I need to do this. I agree with the others, toss it in a pot of soup!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katie!
DeleteI agree soup would be a great use. Also any thing you needed to thicken a bit, the rice would work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim, I am so glad you stopped by!
DeleteIn Thai cooking they toast rice then grind it to make a condiment for certain dishes (yum nua, a beef salad, comes to mind ...). I bet you could reverse the process and toast the ground rice.
