  1. Hi Debbie, how are you... The jar you posted at the top is an Apothocary jar and it means "Strong Blue Ointment"
It seems to be a pharmacy jar for Strong Blue Ointment. The "U" probably stands for the Latin "unguentum" ('ointment, perfume, unguent'), and the "Fo" for the Latin "fortis" ('strong').

"Caelful" is probably the abbreviation of "caeruleus fulvus", Latin for 'dark blue' or 'tawny blue'.

Great finds, Hope everyone is well!

  2. This is a porcilen pharmacy Jar (U:CAELFUL:FO) Stronger Blue Ointment , treatment used in England in the 17th & 18th century, Ely Lilly pharmacutical co. had this jar produced years back and presented it to certain employees, including a paper explaining the contents remedy recipe, I don't know when it was made or how many were made. A nice piece for your collection.

  6. I found one also at a thrift store. They were made in the 1980s for Eli Lilly drug manufacturing company, as a promotional item. It does, mean strong blue ointment in latin. They were made in Portugal. Most have the paper sticker missing from the bottom. Mine has numbers engraved in the bottom. Have seen them up to $30.00 on ebay. I just wanted it to match my other stuff, lol.
