It's Thrifty Thursday!

Last weekend my thrifty haul was made at the local libraries book sale!  Yippee!  This is what $5.00 buys you.




And the same day at the thrift store ..... .49 cents bought me a pie vent ceramic birdie.  Perfect for Thanksgiving pie baking time!

    I love browsing through book sales. Looks like you got quite the bargain.

    I've seen pie vents, but do not have one. How exactly do you use a pie vent?

      Thanks Kristi, yes I did!

      The pie vent is placed in the center of an unbaked pie (adjusting the crust around the birdy) The steam escapes through the mouth of the birdy preventing the contents spilling over the sides of the pie onto your clean oven. :D

      I have seen one used but never used one myself and they work great!

I love your pie vent, I have one which looks like an upside down egg cup,which I have had for years and they work brilliantly.     Woo hoo, you scored well girlfriend! I love the pie vent, practical but fun. BOOKS!! Looking at some of those titles hase me a bit envious! I've not popped in our library for months and now I'm itching to go lol!
