It's Thursday!
Thrifting was fun this week. First up ....
A pair of tongs. Made of pewter. I just love that they look like chicken legs! Cost 50 cents.
Then I found this little ceramic, chicken container. Perfect for holding little doodads. Cost 50 cents.
Happy thrifting and remember to give your loved ones a hug!
Good Afternoon Debbie, You are very good at "rooting out" bargains. The pewter tongs are perfect for getting ice from an ice bucket and I love your "doodads" ceramic container. I also love the word "doodads", I've never heard it before. In England we say "bits and bobs". We are teaching each other new words! Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne
ReplyDeleteThanks Daphne and how funny as I never heard of 'bits and bobs'! We are teaching each other new words. Isn't that just wonderful? Have a great day!

DeleteHi Deb, Those adorbable tongs actually came from a "pickle castor" back in the victorian era. The castor usually was an opalescent glass color, either pink blue, amber or clear, and it had some sort of carrier to accompany it. Most of the castors that are found at flea markets are missing the tongs, guess you got a great start on a new find! Are they marked with any "numbers" inside, that usually will be the tell tale if they are sterling or not. Sterling silver always was marked.
