One Christmas gift I really wanted was a kitchen compost holder. Throwing kitchen scraps into an old coffee can was beginning to wear thin and was just plain nasty. I tried decorating the can, putting the can under the sink (to be out of sight), tried finding a different type of container ..... everything!
So who came to the rescue? Good ol' Mom!
Isn't it just a beauty? White ceramic with a stainless steel handle. It fits perfectly beside the kitchen sink where I peel and chop the veggies for our meals.
It includes charcoal filters that will reduce the smell if it isn't emptied often ..... although I really don't have to worry about that!
My kitchen looks sooo much cuter with this new addition. Thanks Mom!
Have a great week and remember to give your loved ones a hug!
Love it Debbie. I used to have one, not as nice as yours I hasten to add, but it became redundant.
ReplyDeleteBetween the chickens and the dog, we hardly get any scraps..lol

Chickens really do help don't they with the scraps! :0)
DeleteWow, I love this! I didn't even know you could get a kitchen composter.
ReplyDeleteMy mother-in-law has chickens and is always putting her scraps into a plastic ice cream bucket....I might have to buy her one of these for her birthday :)
Hugs to you,
Stephanie
Thanks Stephanie, it is a lot better than an ice cream pail. I have done that!
DeleteSuch a wonderful gift and you will love it! Enjoy the new year from your newest follower, Linda
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda! I am so glad you are following along. Welcome.
DeleteI've seen these, wonderful and so cute for the kitchen!
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie, yes it is cute. :0)
DeleteThats nice. Handy, useful yet attractive. Sure is nicer than my old yogurt container LOL! And as a self confessed dish towel addict...where did you find the striped one in the photo????
ReplyDeleteI found the striped dish towel at a yard sale a few summers ago. Picked up a lot of a dozen or so for few dollars. Very lucky as I love them. They are very heavy and thick. :0)
DeleteGood Afternoon Debbie, What a fabulous mum you have, she knows exactly what you like. I use an old tupperware dish, which really isn't suitable. I put my used coffee grains and used tea leaves straight on the garden as my Aunt Molly (who was 97 years yesterday) said that roses love coffee grains and other plants love tea leaves. I will have to see if I can find a better kitchen composter here in England as yours is so pretty. Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne
ReplyDeleteOh yes Daphne..tea and coffee grounds are a great addition to the compost. I hope you can find something similar there! Have a great day.
DeleteI have never seen a kitchen composter before! The majority of my scraps go to the dogs but I have lots of coffee grinds every day that I simply toss. This is a great idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa! I am glad you stopped by!
DeleteThat was a very thoughtful gift, indeed! Now I wish I had one too. It would really come in handy.
ReplyDeleteOh it is handy Becky, thanks! Have a great day. :0)
DeleteWhat a smart Mom you have.
ReplyDeleteSo cute
M :)
Yep, that she is Melinda! :0)
DeleteI want one too. Love it. I have a plastic ice cream bucket under the sink for compost and also one for chicken scraps. Yours is tres chic!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deannie, that's what I had was a ice cream bucket! Great minds think alike. :0)
DeleteLOVE it! I have been eyeing one like this for a little while, but since we haven't set up our compost pile yet, I can't really justify purchasing one!
ReplyDeleteThanks ClutteredMama, when you need one then you will know you can get them! :0)
DeleteVery nice. I've said it before, but I love items that are both cute and practical--this is a perfect example of that.
ReplyDeleteI have that exact composter and love it.
