My New Kitchen Composter

One Christmas gift I really wanted was a kitchen compost holder.  Throwing kitchen scraps into an old coffee can was beginning to wear thin and was just plain nasty.  I tried decorating the can, putting the can under the sink (to be out of sight), tried finding a different type of container ..... everything!

So who came to the rescue?  Good ol' Mom!

Isn't it just a beauty?  White ceramic with a stainless steel handle.  It fits perfectly beside the kitchen sink where I peel and chop the veggies for our meals.

It includes charcoal filters that will reduce the smell if it isn't emptied often ..... although I really don't have to worry about that!

My kitchen looks sooo much cuter with this new addition.  Thanks Mom!

Have a great week and remember to give your loved ones a hug!

  1. Love it Debbie. I used to have one, not as nice as yours I hasten to add, but it became redundant.
Between the chickens and the dog, we hardly get any scraps..lol

  2. Wow, I love this! I didn't even know you could get a kitchen composter.
My mother-in-law has chickens and is always putting her scraps into a plastic ice cream bucket....I might have to buy her one of these for her birthday :)

    Hugs to you,
    Stephanie

    1. Thanks Stephanie, it is a lot better than an ice cream pail. I have done that!

  5. Thats nice. Handy, useful yet attractive. Sure is nicer than my old yogurt container LOL! And as a self confessed dish towel addict...where did you find the striped one in the photo????

    1. I found the striped dish towel at a yard sale a few summers ago. Picked up a lot of a dozen or so for few dollars. Very lucky as I love them. They are very heavy and thick. :0)

  6. Good Afternoon Debbie, What a fabulous mum you have, she knows exactly what you like. I use an old tupperware dish, which really isn't suitable. I put my used coffee grains and used tea leaves straight on the garden as my Aunt Molly (who was 97 years yesterday) said that roses love coffee grains and other plants love tea leaves. I will have to see if I can find a better kitchen composter here in England as yours is so pretty. Have a lovely day. Best Wishes Daphne

  7. I have never seen a kitchen composter before! The majority of my scraps go to the dogs but I have lots of coffee grinds every day that I simply toss. This is a great idea!

  11. LOVE it! I have been eyeing one like this for a little while, but since we haven't set up our compost pile yet, I can't really justify purchasing one!

  12. Very nice. I've said it before, but I love items that are both cute and practical--this is a perfect example of that.
