Welcome 2013

Welcoming in the new year was a quiet affair with us hitting the bed well before the clock struck midnight.  What a lovely way to wake on the first of the month of 2013 ..... refreshed looking forward to a day at home, puttering around that might include some knitting or perhaps baking a loaf of cinnamon bread.....cinnamon bread and a cup of tea sounds divine.

I hope your day and the year ahead is all that you wish for.  A new beginning, a fresh start.  Do you have any resolutions this year?  I had two last January 1st and am proud to say that I have kept them throughout 2012.  I quit smoking cigarettes and lost 50 pounds.  Whoot!  This year my resolutions are less intense but not less important.  Spending less and saving more.  A bigger garden and decluttering are top priorities this year.

Simplify, simplify ..... that will be my goal for 2013.  What are you New Year's resolutions this year?  Do you make any?

Remember to give you loved ones a hug!

  1. Good for you - two very hard resolutions to accomplish last year, and you did it!

My only resolution will be to find a job (I lost mine October 2, 2012)

I enjoy reading your blog. Happy New Year.

  2. Congratulations on quitting smoking and losing 50 pounds! Those are both huge accomplishments, and not often ones that go hand-in-hand. Are you going to write any posts about how you did it? I'm always inspired by the successes of others.

One of my goals this year is to run a 10K race with my oldest daughter. Actually the real goal is to get in better shape, but hopefully the commitment of the race will motivate me to do that. The race is in September; the sign-ups don't start until later this month, but I'd better lace up those running shoes today and start the journey!

    1. Oh Kristi, a 10K race?! Good luck! I am unfortunately not a runner...bad knees so walking is my exercise of choice....less pounding. I hope you will mention your journey to the race on your blog so I can follow and cheer you on!

  3. Simplify is also my "theme" for the year. Simplify in all areas, cleaning out stuff, continue with simple real food, enjoy reading and writing as opposed to man made entertainment.......just plain leading a simple, happy life!

Congrats on the quitting smoking and weight loss. Great accomplishments!

  4. That's a good goal to have for all of us, don't you think. Less "wanting" and more "enjoy what you have"
May you have a wonderful year with all that's good.
